Getting to Bornholm
Getting to Bornholm requires a short ferry route, from Køge (Denmark), Ystad (Sweden) or from Sassnitz (Germany). The longest journey is the one from Køge, at 5 hours. The shortest is by speed ferry from Ystad, at just 80 minutes.
The return ticket for motorcycle and rider, Ystad – Bornholm – Ystad, is 180 Danish kroner in September.
Newbies
To beginners we extend a special welcome to SKOG™Ø. We have all been there. Many years ago or more recently. We remember the uncertainty and feeble attempts at our first kilometers on loose surface. It is all part of adventure riding and we want you to ride home from SKOG™ with new relevant knowledge and skill. For this purpose we have a special area with lots of room to play and where experienced instructors will give you valuable advice. Starting with the basics and work your way up – building confidence.
How We Ride
We have decided to drop the usual guided tours for SKOG™Ø – but will provide a number of GPX routes for you to choose from. Ride alone or with others, and enjoy the magnificent views along the coast or through the spectacular forests. All routes are along public roads appropriate for all types of motorcycles. A mixture of asphalt and gravel, narrow and winding – a real riders paradise! Our local route wizard has even included some of his favorite rest stops.
Always remember: You are a representative of an endangered species – the rare and mysterious Adventure Rider. With that comes responsibility. No kidding: Anybody disregarding our rules of conduct, direct orders from any of our staff, or endangering own or somebody else's life or safety, will be excluded from the event.
What We Eat
Our event is famous for its kitchen. Responsible for our food & beverage program is chef Jonas Thunberg. All our food is prepared over an open fire, creatively composed meals with a flair of fire and smoke. Tasty and energy packed to keep you going. Logistics are limited, and we regret not being able to cater to special diets, but there will be a vegetarian alternative for dinner.
For breakfast we offer a buffet with a variety of choices. Oatmeal, bred, butter, cheeses, spreads. Scrambled eggs and other treats. Some fruits. For lunch you are welcome to make yourself a sandwich to bring along, or purchase a freeze-dried Real Turmat lunch. Besides, Bornholm has a generous selection of cozy cafes, bakeries and food places. We will provide you with a list of recommended places.
For all meals: Remember to bring your own plate, cup/glass and cutlery. Oh, and we don't do dishes, so clean up your own mess.
Where We Stay
We camp in the middle of the beautiful island of Bornholm, by a small lake in the forest. It is private land entrusted to Basecamp North, so we are the only ones there. The camp is less than 30 minutes from the Rønne ferry terminal, and we will give you directions as well as a GPS point.
The camp site is ideal for tents, but a little more challenging for hammocks. You can hide in the bushes or settle by the lake.The forest is completely safe and everybody is your friend.
The SKOG™ Concept
Cryptic for some of you, but very easy to learn. SKOG: Spelled the same way in Swedish and Norwegian, means forest. It was an obvious choice for an event coming from our passion – adventuring in the Scandinavian backcountry. Our SKOG™ was developed as a natural fusion between love of the outdoors and the passion for riding with an engine between your legs. SKOG™ is where we meet to celebrate man and machine, friendship and the wonders of nature.
